Materials and manufacture

Primary and secondary windings use copper wire. Imported flame-retardant bobbins are described in the brochure as meeting the EU RoHS directive. Silicon-steel laminations are inserted by machine for production efficiency.

Transformers undergo two varnish-impregnation cycles and automatic oven curing for corrosion and moisture resistance and a neat appearance.

Capacity selection

For a single secondary winding, the maximum capacity in the table may be selected. For two or more secondary windings, reduce the capacity appropriately.

Table capacities use the factory’s conventional 0.5 mm EI laminations. With the same core and bobbin dimensions, capacity may be increased by approximately 10% using the alternative thinner laminations described. Example: a 35×18 core and bobbin with 0.5 mm EI laminations has a maximum capacity of 4.0 VA; changing to 0.35 mm EI laminations increases the stated maximum to 4.5 VA.
