Magnetic saturation extracts the third harmonic, described as the largest harmonic component, to supply interturn, inter-section and interlayer increased-frequency/increased-voltage tests of inductive-winding electrical products. The purpose is to assess winding insulation strength and withstand level.
A three-core five-limb structure operates above saturation flux density. In the open-delta-connected secondary, the vector sum of fundamental-frequency positive-sequence EMFs is zero; the open terminals provide in-phase 150Hz third-harmonic zero-sequence voltage.
The brochure includes three-phase frequency-tripler circuit and transformer connection diagrams.
